My journal is 'friends only' so comment if you want to see inside my world! It is not that exciting but hey, its my LIFE and like to keep some things just between me and my friends.

If you wish to add me, go ahead but please comment so I know that you have and also let me know why you added me (where you found me, why you want to add, etc.!)! This entry is screened.

Thank you!!

knitting
i finished my washcloth i was knitting the other day. i made a mistake and slipped a stitch, but my granny said she'd take it anyway. it is a violet colourway, 50% cotton, 50% acrylic.

Face cloth

its been nice doing these, its allowed me to pick back up and start knitting again after the long hiatus due to my addiction to this book series!

I need to also update my yarn stash. i think if its not too terribly windy this afternoon (however judging by the way the trees outside my ofice are slanted, I'm not betting on it).. i may try to take some stash pictures. i want to totaly redo all my photos and i'm inspired by allison's!

okay so i'm still on a knitting hiatus. i'm really looking forward to getting back to my needles though. we have another swap upon us with malabrigo and that has got my needle sense tingling. i've got t finish that dishcloth i started and i need to get a few things made for upcoming birthdays/holidays. i think what i may do, since i'm still reading that series but i'm on the last published book, is to read one night, knit another. i'll try that tonight.

i just got my swap partner info and i'm going to go stalk!!

john just put 15 new yellow labs into our fish tank. he bought them off this girl in the city who only wanted 10 bucks for them - a freaking steal! our tank is now filled to the brim with lovely african cichlids!

Note: pic is not of our fish

aargh
i have woken up and have a stye in my eye. omg it fucking hurts. i get this maybe once every other year. i hadn't been doing the best job at makeup removal apparently.. guess i should pay better attention!

if only i could wear an eye patch to work.. damn i wish it was "talk like a pirate" day!

oh noes

i hate it when i paint my fingernails and they end up with those little air bubblies in them.. ugh. i'm guessing its becausei put it on too thick or something, buti didn't think i did. oh well, i guess when they dry i'll try to just deal. or maye i need to wait longer between coats? you'd think having painted my nails hundreds upon hundreds of times i would know the secret.

i changed my layout a bit - well just changed the theme nothing more. i figured i'd go for a green bunny thing since we have both st. pat's and easter this month. lucky for me there was a theme for that! still a green bunny would have been cute too. lol

i haven't picked up needles since the end of february. i am so stuck into reading this book series (diana gabalond's outlander series) and ijust can't pull myself away from it. i'm hoping to learn how to make a hat this weekend with allison. not sure i will need it because the weather keeps warming up, but i'd like to know how to make one and this will be my first project for ME!

i don't even care about NFL, i stopped watching the league years ago. but there is just something about the patriots and the smugness of tom brady that i didn't like! it is really lame to even say it, but hey it is what it is. but i'm glad the giants won. i think its the good luck charm of pandy wearing a giants shirt that her daddy wore as a kid. she looks so freaking adorable in the shirt and pigtails. =) i'll post a pic up tomorrow (i took one with her camera luckily).

i have to figure out what to knit myself. i have all this loverly yarn and haven't really knitted much lately. i would love to use my self striping yarn to make a hat or a scarf.. i love me some scarves. i also need to really get down to the business of purling and doing a pattern since all the things i've made so far have just been my own creation. or maybe i'll go crazy and try to make a king sized blanket with size 1 needles. lol. only allison and brandi will laugh at this or maybe bana!

wasting time

  • Jan. 21st, 2008 at 12:35 AM
use.less.stuff
i've begun to ponder how much time i waste on the various sites that i check out each day, sometimes MANY times a day. i have begun keeping track of certain sites where i have a log on and log in each day, what blogs i read and subscribe to, and things of that nature. its amazing to me how many places i am in a given day. i wonder if i could channel my creativity a little bit better if i spent more time on LESS sites. its possible. i am also going to start unsubscribing from a bazillion email lists that i've accidentally on purpose found myself subscribed to. so often i just delete the emails, a minor annoyance every morning. but hey maybe those 10 seconds i spend could be channeled elsewhere? oh and another thing i want to streamline - bookmarks. do you know how many things i have bookmarked over the last 10 years? i still have most of them, its scary! who knows, i just know i'm tired of clutter. i laugh as i say that because currently within my reach are the following;

my purse, my work cell phone, two cans of pens & markers, a camera, my photo ipod, books, a magnetboart that is full, stack of pandy's work, a stack of magazines, stationary, and a box of various things. that's without really straining myself. its all tidy and neat, but still its a lot of crap. i'm tired of it. i've been staying it for ages but it truly has started to affect how i think. i want to just live a simple life. to have the simple things that i need to live my existance and if i don't need it but want it, it must really hold a place in my heart dear to me.

now i by no means think i'll be able to achieve this monumentous life change overnight, but at least every day i think a little more about what i truly need to live. truth is... not this much stuff. we don't even buy that much stuff these days, its just really come from when we joined households and brought a child into our life. and then things stuck around, then we moved things from one room to another trying to trim down, and just never really got a good grasp on things. i guess that's really what my goal is for this year, to get a grip!

so in close.. have you thought about how much stuff you have how much if any of it you really could stand to get rid of? its interesting to think about as you sit in say your fave spot on teh couch, glance around, and go "hrm, you know i could really do without XXXX"... how often are you bogged down with STUFF that you don't really LIVE because you're too busy dealing with all the STUFF?

this isn't my idea, there are thousands of people out there that have muttered those same lines.. but when it finally hits home, that no matter how clean, how organized you are, you could really stand to shed some unneeded items in your home... it just seems like your own A HA! moment.
